    Sleek Ponytail

    • A sleek ponytail looks elegant and trendy at the same time. To achieve the look, wash and condition the hair and apply an anti-frizz serum or spray. Blow-dry the hair smooth and coat the locks with a shine-enhancing serum. Brush all the hair up and gather it high on the head. Pull a one inch section loose at the bottom of the formed ponytail. Smooth the rest of the hair together and secure it with an elastic band. Take the one inch section left down and wrap it around the elastic, hiding it beneath the hair. Pin the hair under with a bobby pin. If desired, keep the bangs down and blunt across the forehead for a modern look or side-swept across the forehead and gathered into the rest of the hair for a romantic look.

    Looped Ponytail

    • This look is characterized by soft hair gathered loosely into a ponytail at the top of the head and looped through the hair elastic. To get this relaxed yet romantic look, wash and condition the hair. Apply a volume-boosting serum or spray and blow-dry the hair using a large, round brush to add body. Smooth an anti-frizz serum through the locks and tease the hair at the crown. Use your fingers to gently pull the hair high to the top of the head. Secure the hair with bobby pins (hiding them beneath the hair) so it looks lightly gathered and has a "soft" look to it. Use a hair elastic to better secure the hair together and loop the ends through without pulling them all the way out, making a "loop" with the hair. Spread the loop and separate the strands gently so it does not look too tight and tame. Pull some soft strands down around the face. Use hairspray to the style to keep the loose strands in place.

    Teased Ponytail

    • This trendy style is recognized by the voluminous "bump" at the top of the head. To create this fashionable ponytail, wash and condition the hair and blow-dry it using a large, round brush. Apply a texturizing cream to the locks. Divide the hair at the top of the head into four sections: the front bangs area, two middle sections and the back crown area. Starting at the back, tease the hair with a teasing comb. Move forward to the two middle sections and do the same thing. Leave the bangs smooth. Pull the teased hair up and insert a bump-enhancing hair piece underneath. These are made of plastic and are a flattened rainbow shape. Smooth the hair over the hair piece and gently comb the top to hide visible teasing. Pull all the hair up to the top of the head, leaving the front bangs section down and swept across the forehead. Secure the hair in a high ponytail. Pull some strands of hair down around the face. If desired, use a curling iron to add body to the hair in the ponytail.

    Twisted Ponytail

    • This is a unique look that is fun for parties or other such occasions. It is characterized by twists that are gathered into a high ponytail. To achieve this look, spray the hair with an anti-frizz spray and apply a styling cream to the locks. Begin twisting the hair in one inch sections towards the crown of the head. Temporarily secure each twist with a bobby pin. Make sure the twists are smooth and tight. Once all the hair has been twisted, gather the twists, remove the bobby pins and secure the hair into a high ponytail with an elastic band. Twist one inch sections of hair from the ponytail and spray them with hairspray. This adds texture to the hair and completes the look.
