How to Apply Blush for Your Face Shape
- 1). Examine your face in a mirror to determine its shape. Take a thorough, long look -- you'll use your face shape in later steps to decide where to put your blush.
- 2). Apply blush to the outer half of your apples (the fleshy mounds of cheek that stick out when you smile) if you have an oval face shape, in which your jaw and forehead are the same width and the length of your face is one and a half times the width. Blend the blush out along your cheekbones.
- 3). Place blush on the apples of your cheeks and angle the color up in a straight line if you have a round face shape, where your chin is wide, your cheeks are round and the length and width of your face are equal. You'll balance out the roundness of your face with these straighter blush lines.
- 4). Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks in a round shape pattern, blending well, if you have a square face shape, in which your jaw is square and your forehead is strong. You'll counteract the square nature of your face with this round blush shape.
- 5). Put a small, round placement of blush on your cheeks at the outer parts of the apples if you have a heart-shaped face, where your jaw is narrower than your cheek bones and forehead. Line the color up under the outer third of your eye and blend it on a horizontal line outward to enhance the chin and jaw and take the focus off the center of your face.
- 6). Apply blush in a slightly curved, more horizontal line across your cheeks if your face is shaped like a rectangle, in which your jaw is square and your face length is longer than the width. You'll diminish the length of your face with this horizontal blush placement.
