These visions come from the control room of history, or the great command centre.
Nothing usurps the throne of God.
These pieces flow from a serious reading and study of the book of Revelation and at the moment we are dealing with these significant events in Chapter 6.
Jesus Christ is the Lamb who was slain, and it is because of this fact that Jesus is worthy of opening these seals.
The background to all this is explained in the earlier part of the book of Revelation, but now we are dealing with detail and leaders and governments and those is authority need to know something of what is happening across the world.
Nothing is going to defeat the saints of God ultimately! Remember that, because each of these seals is going to mean trouble for the church on earth.
Do you think those in leadership are aware of how Almighty God reveals the events of the final days of the world as we presently know it and experience it.
Massive changes are coming and God would have prepared no matter where we are serving and leading.
The Lamb opens the second seal, and the apostle John, who is now around ninety years of age, sees a red horse.
What is the profound significance of what John is seeing? Battle and warfare and bloodshed will increase.
Have we not seen that over these past years and much of it totally unnecessary bloodshed, humanly speaking.
What is Almighty God really saying to mankind and to the Church in these visions, and we need to remember they are visions and the language is visionary and the detail must never be pressed too far! John sees a third horse and the third horse is black speaking to us of the colour of starved flesh.
In time of war there is scarcity and famine and poverty and hardship and famine.
No one is likely to dispute that reality.
This horseman has a set of scales in his hand.
It is a scene of sever rationing, such as the world has never seen.
This is increasing economic crisis.
What are leaders going to do? What will they do when sin is rampant and when this level of scarcity is global? Bread is weighed out on the scales, and one day's wage will buy enough bread for one person - a few slices of bread for £60 or £80.
Translate it into your own relevant currency wherever you are studying this reality.
There appears such scarcity.
It is a picture of mere subsistence where a man receives a portion of bread for a day's work, and it is just enough to keep that person going.
That phrase in the prayer of Jesus, "Give us this day our daily bread" will certainly take on a new relevance and it will take on a dynamic significance.
It means, give us enough bread for the next twenty four hours.
Today in our western world at the moment things are quite different as our shelves in food shops and supermarkets and malls are heaving with food! The Lamb opens this third seal and a black horse or even darkness, depicting the absence of the presence of the Gospel.
There is no light and there is a pair of scales, and there is severe need and pain.
Now, John saw that this would happen some day and what Jesus Christ teaches is true and what Jesus Christ reveals has a reality from which no man can hide or escape.
