How to Get Inexpensive Car Insurance

Where can you get inexpensive car insurance? The answer is definitely not "insurance agents.
" Insurance agents, like everyone else, need to make a living out of their career, so you know they are not there to help you get the best deal.
They are not duty bound to tell you crucial points to help you save money.
If you are born under a lucky star you might be able to get yourself an honest insurance agent who believes in helping you to get the cheapest and best deal possible.
The writer of this article on the other hand, is not an insurance agent.
Like you, I want to get value for money.
I want something that is good and cheap, and I hope people will share their tips of saving money with me.
At the same time I believe in karma, thus I believe that in order to get people to share their tips with me, I must first share my knowledge with everyone I know.
It is important to get more that one quote.
Get a few quotes for the same thing and compare the policies - the limits, deductible and others.
Review your policies at least on a yearly basis.
Remember to ask for policy review and always obtain the newest, updated quotes.
At least get the updated quotes every year.
Chances are the insurance agents will "forget" to drop a certain rate (for their benefit of course), so if you had reviewed your policies, you will be able to remind them to drop the rates.
Take into account what you really need.
If your kids are already in college and they stay far away from you, you will want to take them off the insurance policy.
Although this means you won't be able to let them be the driver of your vehicle when they want to come home to visit you, you can be assured that this will save you scads of money.
Just remember - to obtain something, something else will always have to be sacrificed.
The higher your deductible, the less expensive your car insurance will be, so raise your deductible.
Be prepared to pay more for the accident that might (or might not!) happen someday in future.
By doing this, you will be able to save money on the premiums you have to pay over the years.
Another tip is to drop collision coverage.
Doesn't it sound absurd to fork out thousands to insure your car that is worth less than what you pay for the car insurance? It is similar to paying 300 dollars to repair a printer that is only worth 250 dollars - you might as well as get a new printer.
Same principle applies here.
When the value of your car is less than a particular amount (an amount you can afford to lose), you can drop the collision coverage.
Never be shy to ask for more discounts.
If you don't ask, you will never know how many special discounts you are entitled to.
There are discounts such as non-smoker discounts, car policy discounts, home policy discounts and many others.
If you don't know what to ask, you can just pose a simple question: "Is there any other discounts that I am entitled to?" Also, ask for discounts you may be qualified for in future, and once you are eligible for them in future, ask your agent for that discount.
Your agent might not be pleased at your good memory, but your bank account is going to be grateful about it.
Read and double-read every part of your insurance policy to make sure that you are not paying for things that you don't need.
If you don't understand a certain part, don't be shy to ask and clarify.
You need and deserve to understand the policy before you agree to be bound by it.
