    • 1). Clean the leather around the rip with a cotton ball dipped in some rubbing alcohol. Allow the area around the rip to dry completely.

    • 2). Mix the adhesive with the appropriate dye colors to create a shade that matches your leather cover best. Mix the adhesive and dye on a paper plate with a plastic knife.

    • 3). Press the sides of the rip together so that the leather lies smooth. Apply a thick layer of leather repair adhesive to the lines of the rip with the plastic spatula included in the kit or the plastic knife. Allow it to dry. Apply another layer. Allow this final layer to dry.

    • 4). Place a metal cookie sheet underneath the leather cover, right where the rip is. Activate the heat bonding tool and press it against the adhesive-covered rip. The metal of the cookie sheet will help the entire area heat up, creating a stronger bond.

    • 5). Remove the heat bonding tool and turn it off. Peel off the grain paper. Upon inspecting your work, the rip should be invisible or nearly so.
