Dec 15, 2009 - Roman Polanski's legal troubles didn't put a damper on the enthusiasm over his latest film. Summit Entertainment, the studio best known for the Twilight movies, has picked up The Ghost Writer for distribution in North America.
Polanski directed and produced the film, which is based on the Robert Harris novel and adapted for the screen by Harris and Polanski. According to Summit's official press release, The Ghost Writer stars Pierce Brosnan as Adam Lang, a former British Prime Minister.

Lang's busy writing his memoirs on a secluded island when his assistant drowns. Ewan McGregor co-stars as a ghost writer brought in to help Lang finish his memoirs. The ghost writer is then "drawn into a political and sexual intrigue involving Lang's wife, Ruth (Olivia Williams) and his aide (Kim Cattrall)."

In a joint statement, Summit Entertainment Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said, "We had the good fortune to recently screen The Ghost Writer in Paris and were amazed at the film Roman and his team have created. He once again has proven himself as one of the world’s most talented filmmakers and master of suspense creating a very modern thriller and we look forward to sharing this film with North American audiences."

Summit is looking to release The Ghost Writer in the first half of 2010.
