Dogs tend to get into the habit of begging for food when it's around.
It's something that happens because the food is good and this is how many dogs tend to also get rewards making it somewhat natural behavior.

Start early with your dog.
It's best to stop the behavior early on when the pet is in your home versus letting it go on for awhile.
Many tend to get a puppy and want to please him or her with food.
Don't do this else the behavior will continue.
When you dog is begging, let your dog know that he or she should not be doing this.
Use your "no" command for your dog so that it's clear that your pet should not be doing this.
Tell your dog to go lay down in their bed when it's meal time for you and your family.
This will keep your pet away from the food as much as possible to cut down on the begging.
Distract your pet with a treat.
Get up and go to a different part of the home with the treat having your pet follow you.
Your pet will still get food and attention but it's not going to be your food off your plate.
Avoid sharing snacks throughout the day with your dog.
Your pet doesn't know the difference between you eating a snack or a meal.
If you do some sharing, the behavior will always continue and your dog will beg knowing that there is more food for them.
Put your dog outside during meal times if it's a severe problem.
You could also find food your pet enjoys and feed that to him or her during some of your meal times.
You have to be consistent with whatever type of training you do else your pet will be confused.
Stay firm and don't let up giving them food sometimes when they beg.
