What is "Hipster Runoff"?:
Hipster Runoff is the blog of contemporary philosopher "Carles", the anonymous dissector of all things indie, alt, and (naturally) hipster. His insights are couched in a layer of "text-speak" and self-conscious artifice.
It's a very un-slick fusion of the author's thoughts and the projected thoughts of his perceived audience. Shit, look how he has me talking.
Whether or not you find the cultural musings of Hipster Runoff of any use, there's definitely a humor and intrigue to be found in the blog's carefully crafted inauthenticity. There are virtually no distinguishing lines between the things which Carles believes and those which he's mocking. Nothing more "hipster" than that, right?
