1. Texts From Dog

British cartoonist October Jones was fiddling with his phone one day when he discovered that he could send text messages to himself. So he did what any funny guy would do; he created a self-absorbed alter ego based on his bulldog, Cooper. Once he started texting himself with passive-aggressive, canine-based humor, he decided to share his discovery with the world via his Tumblr blog. It didn't take long for others to find the humor in his work, and Texts From Dog now has an enormous global audience of fans. To date, the blog has resulted in a book, a YouTube cartoon, and a wildly popular Facebook page with over 326,000 dog-loving fans.More »

2. Texts From Superheroes

Texts From Superheroes is a blog created and maintained by internet comedian Diana McCallum and stand-up comedian Andrew Ivimey. The premise is simple: What if Superheroes were real, had cell phones, and sent each other text messages regularly?

With the tagline, "Saving the world, and conversations," it's easy to see that this blog is a great find for any of us nerdy types who love to imagine that Superman sometimes pranks Batman, and so forth.More »

3. Texts From Last Night

This is one of the original "Texts From" blogs. The site came about when two friends, Lauren Leto and Ben Bator, realized that some of the funniest text messages happened to hit their inboxes after a night of drinking. They started a blog to document these exploits, and before they knew it readers from all over were sending in their questionable, "How did I end up here?" texts from the night of debauchery they'd just enjoyed last night.

The site's tagline, "Remember that text you shouldn't have sent last night? We do." sums up the embarrassment people often feel after pressing "send" when they shouldn't have.Reading the anonymous texts posted on this site makes us wish our cell phone came equipped with a breathalyzer!More »

4. Texts From Hillary

In October of 2011, a Reuters photograph of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wearing sunglasses and checking her mobile phone hit the web.Two friends, Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe, who both work in Public Relations in the Washington D.C. area, saw the image, thought it was funny, and created a Tumblr blog called Texts From Hillary. The site was an instant success, and the "Texts From Hillary" meme went viral in a matter of days.

The blog was short-lived, however. After Smith and Lambe received recognition (and a text message!) from Hillary herself, they decided to "quit while they were ahead" and not post any new images on their Tumblr. However, the meme lives on in the hands of internet users everywhere.More »

5. Texts From Bennett (NSFW - Language)

This is a hit blog that went viral late in 2011.The premise is that there's an anonymous blogger who texts with his younger cousin Bennett.Bennett is seventeen years-old and "thinks he's a crip, works at Amoco, has a girlfriend named Mercedes, and is one of the most unintentionally funny and brilliant souls on the planet."The texts are largely unintelligible, since Bennett "speaks" only in gang lingo and slang, but the concept is very funny stuff.

Unfortunately, though the blog claims these texts are "100% real," The Smoking Gun reported in December 2011 that Bennett's texts were actually a work of fiction created by Kansas City rapper, David Sheldon, AKA Mac Lethal.Oh well... still funny, even if they're not real.More »
