Dog bathing may seem like an easy chore when you think about it, but actually performing the task can be quite difficult.
This is especially true when you have a dog that does not like the water.
However, with a bit of knowledge and creativity, you can make bath time a fun time for both you and your pet.
First, you have to get your dog comfortable in the water.
Some dogs don't like the water, especially smaller dogs such as beagles.
The best way to handle this is to fill the tub with only one to two inches of water.
Place your dog into the water, and let them see there is nothing to be afraid of.
Placing their favorite chew toy in the bath with them can also help.
If you cannot get your dog used to the water, it may take two people to bathe your dog.
One person will need to hold the dog while the other actually cleans the dog.
It is important to be careful while holding the dog so that you do not hurt it or scare it while bathing.
This can make the bath even more difficult, and possible cause severe injury to your pet.
Be gentle but firm in your manner and your physical contact.
Once you are able to keep your dog in the tub, you are ready to actually commence with the dog bathing.
Use a good flea shampoo that is tear free and age appropriate for your dog or puppy.
Be careful not to wash the face, do not get water in the ears, and don't forget the underbelly.
