How to Add a Hand Shower to a Fixed Shower

1). Place a rag over the nut that holds the fixed showerhead to the threads of the shower arm supply pipe. Grip the nut with a pair of pliers and untwist the nut by turning counterclockwise. Remove the showerhead from the arm.
2). Wrap the threads of the shower arm supply pipe with plumber's tape. If the hand-held shower has a gasket, plumber's tape isn't needed.
3). Screw the nut on the hand-held shower mount onto the threads of the shower arm supply pipe. Wrap the nut with the rag and tighten the nut with the pliers by turning clockwise.
4). Screw the ends of the shower hose to the hand-held shower mount and onto the hand-held showerhead handle.
5). Set the hand-held showerhead down in the mount.
