How to Add a Hand Shower to a Fixed Shower
- 1). Place a rag over the nut that holds the fixed showerhead to the threads of the shower arm supply pipe. Grip the nut with a pair of pliers and untwist the nut by turning counterclockwise. Remove the showerhead from the arm.
- 2). Wrap the threads of the shower arm supply pipe with plumber's tape. If the hand-held shower has a gasket, plumber's tape isn't needed.
- 3). Screw the nut on the hand-held shower mount onto the threads of the shower arm supply pipe. Wrap the nut with the rag and tighten the nut with the pliers by turning clockwise.
- 4). Screw the ends of the shower hose to the hand-held shower mount and onto the hand-held showerhead handle.
- 5). Set the hand-held showerhead down in the mount.
