Most of us have been taught that we are selfish and should feel guilty if we do things for ourselves.
This is not true - recent studies show that people who practice routine self-care are happier, healthier and have a lot more energy to help others.
In addition, those who include self-care activities into their routine are more creative, successful and efficient with their time.
Putting yourself first can include anything that makes you feel good, adds to your health and feeds your soul including (and not limited to):
Even tiny breaks in your routine can be useful.
Be creative, use your imagination and get out there and indulge yourself.
Change your mindset from one of guilt and selfishness to that of harmony, balance and feeling good.
You will notice the difference.
You will then be able to give more to others.
This week pay attention to your feelings that indicate you are needing a break - are you tired, resentful, harried, overwhelmed, or starting to feel like you're a victim? Make a list of self-care activities that you are committed to add into your life and begin one immediately.
Add one small thing to your routine daily.
Don't let yourself get overwhelmed with this.
