How to Prevent Lawsuits in Laundromats

103 16
Anyone who runs a small business can agree that lawsuits happen for unimportant causes.
For instance, it's a raining day, and somebody happens to run into your laundromat without proper rain shoes/boots.
She comes in, falls in your laundromat (because her shoes were wet, and she didn't dry them well upon entrance), and injures her hip.
She walks up to you, and yells, "You don't keep your laundromat dry.
I'm calling my lawyer right now!" In many cases, it doesn't make sense.
It appears as if you were intentionally not keeping laundromat in clean, and that's why the customer was hurt.
That person's lawyer will probably give a list of causes as to why the customer hurt herself: healthy woman in late 30′s, goes to aerobics daily, no previous major injury, etc...
It all will make you sound as if you WERE the prominent cause of her damages.
So, I'll discuss how you can prevent yourself from being sued without proper causes.
1.
Put Up Noticeable Signs.
The worst thing you could do about prevention of anything is to just be idle.
Just as I stressed how you should do day-to-day analysis in your laundromat business previously, I cannot stress how pivotal it is to put up signs that cautions your customers against any damage they may receive.
A lot of people don't see why it is necessary to put up signs, but really, you MUST put up signs to protect yourself from becoming a victim of stupid lawsuits.
It's very important that you understand this idea about putting signs.
2.
Be Clear That You Will Call Your Lawyer.
A habit for people who sues others frequently is that they exaggerate.
In other words, let's say that woman I described above hears you come in and that you debated with her about how this wasn't your fault.
She will tell her lawyer that you criticized her for not being respectful and that you insulted her (not true).
Her lawyer will grab that, and so will possibly judge and jury.
So, if that person was going to sue you anyway, don't worsen the case - simply pick up to call your lawyer.
Tell that somebody is going to sue you, and that you will make all efforts to fight back.
You should do this while that person who wants to sue you is next to you so you appear strong.
This doesn't mean that you should be disrespectful and pretend like nothing happened.
You should inquire how the person is doing, but if she shows signs that she will sue you, then tell her that you will give First-Aid medications and then just call your lawyer.
That way, you will be firm and remain respectful.
