Aug 29, 2007 - Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is in talks to star in the Walt Disney movie Race to Witch Mountain*, a remake of the 1975 family film Escape to Witch Mountain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson would played a cab driver who gets in on the action when the film's young main characters flag down his cab in Vegas.
The '75 film starred Ray Milland, Donald Pleasence, and Eddie Albert, and was directed by John Hough (The Legend of Hell House).
Based on the Alexander Key novel, the story follows the adventures of siblings Tony and Tia. The youngsters discover they have special powers and aren't from this world. Chased by men who would use their powers for evil, the two escape to the mysterious Witch Mountain.
Race to Witch Mountain will be directed by Andy Fickman who just completely work on The Game Plan with The Rock. Production is expected to begin in early 2008.
