Body Contouring and How It Can Improve Your Appearance

The term "body contouring" is a kind of catch all phrase that encompasses many different techniques in the world of cosmetic surgery. The point of this phrase is to envelop all of the possibilities that plastic surgery gives a potential patient. Too fat, too many wrinkles, not enough muscle here, too much loose skin there-the right procedures can fix all of these things for a good candidate.

Most people aren't even aware of the many procedures and possibilities that are out there when it comes to body contouring. Here are just a few of them.

Implants
Implants come in many forms and functions for many different areas of the body. Of course, the one most people are aware of are breast implants. These make use of either silicone and saline and are used to give more volume to a woman's chest. But there are other types of implants out there as well. Muscular implants have become rather popular for both men and women who are unsatisfied with a certain area of their body. Bicep and triceps implants can make your arms appear bigger and more defined. Calf implants can give your legs that lower definition that endless calf raises in the gym may be unable to.

Fat Transfer
Combining liposuction and a more classic case of body contouring, fat transfers take fat from undesirable parts of the body (such as the abdominal area) and add it to places where the patient may feel they want more fullness. This could mean adding fat to the buttocks, the lips, or even into the face to clear away wrinkles. There are even a select few doctors out there who have begun making breast implants entirely out of the fat sucked out of the patient's body.

Abdonimoplasty
The adbominoplasty-or tummy tuck, as it is widely known-is a procedure which can lift and remove excess skin from the abdominal region. The procedure is often done following an extraordinary amount of weight loss which has left a lot of extra skin hanging in its wake. The procedure involves not only pulling the skin tight and removing the extra, but sewing the muscular wall up tight to provide stronger abs and a tighter looking tummy. This surgery has proven popular with women who have been through pregnancy and are looking for any way to look good on the beach again (or simply naked in the bedroom).
