Your Decision Making Framework

There comes a time when you have to step back from the life you find yourself in, and take note of your surroundings.
Now realize that everything you see around you is a result of your own decision making.
Good or bad, it's because of a decision you have made in the past.
I have a friend who is always of the impression that he has a rain cloud hanging over him.
That the world is somehow still dealing him a less fortunate hand, and he has to play it.
Yet when I witness his decision making abilities, they are constantly embodied with the inability to see past one moment in time.
He doesn't have the ability to see the need from the wants.
Just stop right there.
There is no hand.
There is no play.
There is only life, and we live the same type.
Some people have more money, some people will grow up in more nurturing homes or what have you, but we all have the same ability to build a solid framework upon which the decisions that lead our lives in different directions.
No longer will we use the excuse that our lives started in a deficit.
Every day you lean on that crutch is another day you push back what you could have accomplished, what you were meant to be, what you were designed to be.
So how do we create a solid decision making framework? First it is imperative that you separate your needs from wants.
Far too many people react with the "wants" in mind, not the "needs" Yes you will feel better at the moment, but I promise you when you look down the road you will still be in a spot you don't want to be.
I promise you that you will not obtain the success that you want.
Take my diet for example.
When I am getting ready for the world championships, I am constantly looking at what I need to be successful.
You bet that cake would be amazing, and you know what, after I ate it and the serotonin was released I would feel like a million bucks.
Heck even my workouts would improve.
Only for a day however, then I would see that which I truly wanted was now even further away.
I would then struggle to make up ground against the best in the world who were not making these mistakes.
I look at what I need, not what I want in that moment.
Secondly, look at what is ahead.
You see life can be just like chess that way.
If you have the chance to make a move on an obstacle that you need to get rid of, but it sets you up later so that your king can't be moved.
It's checkmate.
Life 1, You 0.
Every decision I make I look at my surroundings, I look at what I need in my life to push me to greatness.
If that thing, or that person is going to be surrounding my king later in life.
I need to move on.
Yes it will be hard at the moment, yes there will be things that need to be sacrificed.
That's life.
If you can hold on, if you can constantly evaluate your decision making framework and move forward only when you have a clear vision of what you want, will you be successful.
In fitness, in your job, in life.
Have a clear vision.
I challenge you to examine your decision making framework.
I challenge you to look from opportunities for an improvement.
The right things will start happening.
I promise.
Live big, dream bigger.
