Emo Girl Short Hair Styles
- A bob is a great option for emo hair, especially when it's kept dark and sleek. For a Cleopatra-inspired look, get your hair cut in a sharp, straight, chin-length bob, and add heavy bangs that graze your eyebrows. This look is fantastic on jet-black hair with no highlights.
For a more retro look, get some sweeping side bangs cut into your bob, and streak them with color. Blue, purple, red, and pink are all great choices for dark hair---and you don't have to stick with just one. When styling your hair, give it a retro bouffant by backcombing the hair on the back of your head and holding it in place with hairspray. Place a thin headband between the bangs and the bouffant. - If you're a fan of the teased, messy look, get your hair cropped short in the back and leave a few longer strands in the front. You can work product into the back of your hair and spike it or backcomb it for extra volume. The pieces in front will frame your face; flat-iron them straight for added contrast.
If you really want to emphasize the different lengths and textures, use a headband or ribbon to separate the long from the short. Pull out your longer pieces and let them fall in front of your ears, while the spiky hair in the back can go wild behind the headband.
This look works well with bangs, too. Try starting with shorter, straight bangs, and having your hairstylist blend them in gradually with your longer strands. - Don't leave the super-short cuts to the boys. Pixie cuts with long, side-swept bangs look fantastic when paired with an emo-inspired dye job (think extreme black or blonde with colorful highlights). You can wear a pixie cut sleek and shiny with the help of a little gloss serum, or rough it up with some styling paste.
If you want even more to play with, ask your stylist to leave the back of your hair longer along the nape of your neck. Get some extra length on top, too, so that you can spike it up. This look is great for emphasizing your facial features, chin line, and neck.
