    Straightening Curved Aluminum Blind Slats

    • 1). Put on a lightweight pair of gloves to prevent skin cuts.

    • 2). Slide a four-foot section of 3/4 inch dowel rod between the blind adjustment strings on one side of the blind, just below the bent slat, and slowly push the end through the adjustment strings on the other side of the blinds.

    • 3). Pull the dowel rod firmly against the underside of the bend slat and press firmly on top of the area where the bend or crease exists. While pressing, move your fingers or palm lengthwise along the bend until straight. Remove the wooden dowel.

    Straightening a Flat Blind Slat

    • 1). Put on a set of lightweight gloves to protect against cuts.

    • 2). Slide a four-foot piece of 1-inch x 1-inch lumber through the strings, just below the bent slat, on one side of the blinds. Push the lumber through the strings on the other side of the blinds.

    • 3). Pull the lumber firmly up against the underside of the bent slat and apply heavy pressure to the bend or crease. While applying pressure to the bend, run your hand back and forth lengthwise along the slat until the bend or crease has been straightened to your desired appearance.
