A degree program in health services administration prepares students to become medical and health services managers. These managers are also called healthcare administrators and are responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and supervising the delivery of healthcare. The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics reports that the middle 50 percent of health care administrators earn between $57,240 and $94,780 per year. The highest ten percent of health services administrators earn $127,830 or more. - The University of Michigan offers a master of health services administration degree program that focuses on organizing, marketing, managing and financing health care institutions as well as the delivery of personal heath services within the United States. Students who enroll in this program will take courses such as The Health Services System; Health Care Financial Accounting; and Introduction to Public Health Policy as well as other parts of the core curriculum that include Economics of Health Management and Policy; Strategies and Uses of Epidemiology; and Application of Regression Analysis to Public Health Studies.

Students will take courses such as Health Care Finance; Understanding and Coping with Stress; and Concepts and Issues in Public Planning as well as other courses that include Group Dynamics and Decision-Making; Psychology of Aging; and Human Resources in the Public Sector. Students who choose to enroll in the certificate program will only need to complete 18 credits from the core curriculum of the degree programs.

barry.edu - Xavier University, in Cincinnati, offers a master's degree program in health services administration where students can choose to complete the degree on a full-time schedule or a part-time schedule. Under the full-time option, students will attend class for four semesters followed by an administrative residency that lasts between eight and 12 months. Students who opt to enroll in the part-time option will attend class on campus for nine semesters, including the summer, and will be required to pursue an administrative practicum at the same time. For those who are not able to set up a practicum with their employer will be required to complete the administrative residency. Students will take courses such as Professional Development; Managerial Concepts in Health Care Organizations; and Applied Epidemiology as well as Health Care Economics; Corporate Finance for Health Care Organizations; and Information Systems for Health Services.
