Side Effects of Roxicet
- Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness, unusual thoughts or behavior, headache, constipation, vomiting, blurred vision and dry mouth. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with Roxicet, they only affect a small percentage of users.
- Severe side effects reported by some users include slow heartbeat, shallow breathing, confusion, seizure, nausea, stomach pain, dark urine, clay-colored stools, convulsions and loss of appetite. These side effects are also very rare and are not reported in large numbers of users.
- Do not take Roxicet if you are allergic to either acetaminophen or oxycodone, as the medication contains both compounds. Tell your doctor if you suffer from any of the following medical conditions: asthma, liver or kidney disease, a history of head injury or brain tumors, seizures, low blood pressure, stomach disorders, an underactive thyroid, Addison's disease, enlarged prostate, mental illness or a history of drug addiction.
- Always take this medication exactly as prescribed to you by your doctor and never take it in dosages that exceed the recommendations written on the label. Taking too large a dose can cause serious harm to your liver. Drink six to eight glasses of water per day to avoid constipation and dehydration. Store the drug at room temperature and keep it away from sources of moisture.
- If you experience any of the side effects discussed above, contact your physician immediately. If you suspect an overdose, contact emergency-medical personnel or have someone drive you to the closest emergency room without delay.
Roxicet is a prescription drug, and should never be used recreationally by anyone who does not have a personal prescription. As is the case with narcotic-containing medications, this drug is subject to the Federal Controlled Substances Act (Schedule II).
