    • 1). Clean your nails using the nail polish remover even if you don't have any nail polish on at the moment. Nail polish remover will take off any oils or dirt that may be present on your nails.

    • 2). Put one coat of sparkly nail polish onto your nails. This coat will bond to the nail and to the polish that you put on top, helping to prevent smudging. Allow this coat to dry completely; this takes approximately 10 minutes.

    • 3). Put on two coats of the colored polish. This polish may be of any color you like. Allow it to dry between coats for approximately five minutes. After the second coat is applied, allow it to dry for 10 minutes.

    • 4). Apply the clear polish as a top coat. Let this dry for five minutes before applying a second coat of clear polish. Allow the top coat to harden for at least an hour for best results. This top coat, once hardened and cured, will help to keep your nail polish from smudging.
