When you host a Thanksgiving dinner for your family and friends, put more on the table than just the turkey. Create table centerpieces to add some color to the table. From pumpkins to the traditional horn, centerpieces create an eye-catching display for your table and add a festive touch to the event. - Purchase three medium-size pumpkins. Hollow out a hole in the top of each pumpkin where the stem is, large enough to barely fit a tea light candle. Get three orange tea light candles and stick one in each of the holes of the pumpkins. Place all three pumpkins in a group and light the candles to create a simple centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dinner table.
- Slice several oranges, limes and lemons about 1/8 inch thick. Place the slices flat on a baking sheet and bake at 200 degrees for at least two hours. If the fruit is not completely dry after two hours, turn the oven off and leave in the oven overnight. Purchase some white, orange and brown pillar candles, and hot glue the fruit slices around the base of the candles. Do not glue the slices to the candle -- just glue them together by overlapping them a bit. Place the candles in a group on a large glass platter to create a Thanksgiving centerpiece.
- Make hurricane centerpieces for your Thanksgiving table by using candy corns, nuts and small plastic pumpkins. Get a large hurricane vase and put a white or orange pillar candle in it. Fill the vase about half way up with candy corn, nuts or small plastic pumpkins. Put the hurricane jars on top of a decorative mirror in the middle of the table. Miniature plastic pumpkins are available online and at many party supply stores during the holidays. Use nuts like acorns, pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts to fill the vase.
- Fill a traditional wicker horn with artificial fall leaves and fake Indian corn cobs. These are available at many craft stores during the holidays. Lay the wicker horn on its side, and stuff the leaves and corn in the horn, leaving some hanging out the front. Place this in the middle of the table for a traditional Thanksgiving centerpiece.
