How to Wear a Garter Girdle
- 1). Verify that the garter girdle is the correct size for you. A girdle that is too small can severely restrict breathing, comfort and the ability to sit with ease. Garter girdles have four or more garter fasteners. More garters on the girdle means a more securely held stocking. A short garter strap results in silk, cotton or nylon stockings resting higher on the thighs.
- 2). Put on the garter girdle in front of a mirror. Most garter girdles have hook fastenings just like bras, and others have a zip closure. If the garter girdle has hooks, then open the hooks, put on the garter girdle and hook it in front of yourself. Then shift the hooked side around your waist to your back. Close all of its other hooks.
To put on a lace-up garter girdle, lace it loosely then step into the girdle and pull it up.
If the garter girdle has no hooks or laces, simply step into the garment. - 3). Situate a short garter girdle above or below your navel for comfort. Adjust a full-waist or high-waist garter girdle so that its top rests under your ribcage. Test your comfort level regarding the garment by sitting and bending, and adjust the garter girdle's position if necessary.
- 4). Pull a small amount of silk, cotton or nylon stocking tightly around one of the garter girdle's rubber eyes. Slide it firmly into the plastic or metal garter girdle hook. When properly fastened, the stocking material will be surrounded by the hook fastener. Use the same procedure to attach the stockings to other rubber eyes and hooks.
