Giving - Dealing With An Attitude Of Ungodliness
We do not need to be reminded again that all good blessings and riches come from the Lord, but what we need to be reminded of is the danger in being stingy towards God, the Source and Provider of all blessings.
God allows Satan, the devourer, access into the lives of those who decide to be stingy towards Him.
So many people lose out and are still losing out in the race of life by simply going against the spiritual laws that govern giving and abundance.
It is very important to note that these laws will always work for anyone who employs them with a willing and obedient heart.
In the Bible Jesus encourages us to give, because if we do, God will give us in return.
This encouragement becomes necessary because God wants us to operate in kingdom-promotion giving - the kind of giving which promotes the spread of the Gospel.
The two areas of giving that fall under kingdom-promotion giving are free-will offerings and kingdom-demand offerings.
Deuteronomy 16:16-17 tells us not to come before the presence of God empty-handed thereby reminding us that it is scriptural to bring free-will financial gifts to the altar (Matthew 5:23).
This is a pointer that we should plan our free-will offerings before going to Church.
Setting aside something tangible and praying over them before presentation is to be encouraged (1 Corinthians 16:2).
Free-will gifts are product of proper planning, not what we try to package when we see the size of other people's gifts.
It is coming before the Lord with a financial gift to show appreciation for His prospering you.
It is an ungodly attitude to give contrary to the demands of God's kingdom.
A kingdom-demand offering is "an offering that the kingdom of God demands you to give".
Imagine Abraham's unfulfilled sacrifice of Isaac! We have the right attitude when we understand that a sacrificial offering is a powerful type of offering that God requires from us.
Promotion comes our way when God asks us to willingly yield on offering and we beautifully comply.
Right attitude in giving is giving with a willing heart for the kingdom's sake (Exodus 35:4-5).
Godliness in giving reminds us that whatever we sow toward kingdom increase is an investment that will return to us in abundance.
Sure, giving is living; it positions one to experience supernatural encounters of increase.
The attitude we show in giving determines what is returned to us (Luke 6:38).
A kingdom-demand offering is designed to add "colour" to the life of the giver and brightens his destiny.
Like Abraham, he strives to end his life's journey blessed in all things (Genesis 24:1).
Therefore, to encourage godliness in giving, wise planning is important, especially when it comes to giving for God's kingdom (Proverbs 24:3-4).
Practically, keeping a record of your giving to track your progress toward abundance is also necessary.
This is because when things are not going right in your life, it will help in tracing your route back to God.
