A Very Fine Choice: The King"s Ginger Liqueur
About.com Rating
The King's Ginger Liqueur is a premium ginger liqueur with a rich history and a snappy ginger flavor that is excellent for mixing into cocktails.
The story of the brand is that it was created for England's King Edward VII in 1903 as a stimulating remedy after his doctor raised concerns for his health. The recipe was based on one by London's Berry Bros & Rudd, a wine and spirit merchant that started in 1698 and continues to sell fine alcohol today.
This historic brand is coming back into the spotlight today and is once again becoming quite popular.
This liqueur has a pleasant, yet zesty ginger profile and a golden color. It is neither too spicy or too sweet, but has a nice balance of its signature flavor with complimentary notes of lemon zest and syrup.
It's warm profile makes it an excellent addition to warm cocktails or on its own during the coldest days of the year. The King's Ginger is also pleasant in very simple drinks. Try it with chilled sparkling wine or over ice with ginger ale or club soda.
