    • 1). Remove food from the area to prevent the cleaning solution from getting on or in it.

    • 2). Put on gloves to protect your hands from drying. Put on goggles to protect your eyes from the cleaning solution.

    • 3). Soak a clean sponge with rubbing alcohol.

    • 4). Rub the sponge over the surface of the ceiling to remove the bulk of the smoke stains. Work until the entire ceiling is clean or is as clean as possible.

    • 5). Soak a clean sponge in paint thinner. The paint thinner will remove the rest of the smoke stains.

    • 6). Rub the sponge over the smoke stains on the ceiling until they are completely gone.

    • 7). Rinse the sponge in clear water and rub it over the ceiling to clean it completely.

    • 8). Let the ceiling air dry fully.
