How to Make Halloween Crafts
- 1). Trace an outline of your child's foot on a sheet of cardboard and cut out the outline to create a template.
- 2). Transfer the outline to white construction paper or foam sheet; repeat to draw multiple ghosts. Cut out the shapes, noting that the heel forms the head and the toes are the bottom of the ghost form.
- 3). Paint or draw eyes, or attach googly eyes in the head (heel area). Attach string or yarn at the top of the head for hanging.
- 1). Draw a bat's body and wings on a sheet of cardboard to create a template, making sure that the outlines are larger than the length of the clothespin. Cut out these shapes.
- 2). Trace the templates onto black construction paper or foam sheet and cut out the shapes.
- 3). Glue the body to the front of the clothespin, orienting the ears to the open top of the clothespin. Center and glue the wings to the back of the clothespin.
- 4). Paint eyes or attach googly eyes to the top of the body, below the ears. Clip the bats to string or yarn (they will hang upside down).
- 1). Prepare a thin glue by combining flour and 1/2 cup of water in a large container, stirring to mix. Pour two cups of hot water into the mixture, stir and allow to cool. Blow up a round balloon to the desired size and tie closed.
- 2). Dip strips of newspaper into the glue mixture to saturate. Wipe any excess glue from each strip before applying it to the balloon.
- 3). Cover the balloon with the saturated strips, making sure to smooth each strip over the surface to create an even layer.
- 4). Hang the balloon for several hours or overnight to dry thoroughly. Repeat steps 2 to 4 two more times to create three papier mache layers over the balloon form.
- 5). Pop the balloon and extract it from the top of the shell. Paint the entire form orange and, if desired, after the paint dries, paint a face or glue on decorations.
