If you are a keen golf enthusiast, there is good news for you.
For a long time now you have been watching golf TV on your 2D television.
But with the advent of 3D technology in TV, golf games are poised to be telecasted regularly in three dimensions.
Also, if you have a 3D DVD player and a 3D television, you could rent or buy 3D training DVDs and learn more about improving your golf game from the comfort of your own home.
3D golf would mean that the viewing experience would be like nothing you get from a 2D TV, because it would feel as though you are sitting right on the golf course and watching the game.
You would have a feeling that you are a part of the on-going game, watching the game being played at an entirely different level.
In the recent past there have been two major events which have been highlighted by 3D golf.
One of these was the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club, and the other was the World Cup in South Africa.
This was the first time when the viewers in the United States watched 3D golf.
This was the first ever live national and next generation 3 dimensional broadcast and the people who had 3D TV had the ultimate visuals of the games being televised.
However, 3D golf has arrived and slowly the particular channels will hopefully be broadcasting 3D golf games regularly, live and pre-recorded and lessons as well.
Though the cost of carrying the 3D signal is nil, the viewers are supposed to have the HD set-top box, plus the 3D television sets and of course the usual glasses.
All this is not just new in golf, the 3D technology is being introduced for other sport events as well.
The 3D TV technology and the accessories which come along with the TV are still quite expensive.
Therefore, not all could have the facility to watch 3D golf when it's transmitted.
Presently the biggest stumbling block is that you need to wear the appropriate glasses.
To get the effect of 3D in a 3D TV it is necessary that you wear the glasses to get the full effect of 3D vision.
However, some of the companies are working on ways and means which will do away with the glasses and you would be able to watch 3D golf with your bare eyes.
This technology is still under development.
It is understood that some proto-types have been made which are going through various tests at present.
So 3D golf could be the future of watching golf on TV.
It all sounds good and exciting, but we'll see how it plays out - excuse the pun!:-).
