How to Wash Tie Dyed Shirts
- 1). Combine 1 gallon of white vinegar with 1 gallon of cold water in a bucket. Rinse the tie-dyed shirt in the bucket to set the dyes and prevent the dyes in the shirt from bleeding.
- 2). Wash the shirt separately in a washing machine with mild laundry detergent, to ensure the dyes do not bleed and ruin other garments. Avoid using detergent containing bleach or chlorine, as they can ruin the shirt. After the first couple of washings, you can wash the shirt along with other colored garments.
- 3). Hang the shirt outside to dry. Air-drying the shirt will allow the colors to remain bright, and will prevent shrinking.
