How to Give a Cocker Spaniel a Haircut
- 1). Give your cocker spaniel a bath before grooming to get rid of the tangles and matting.
- 2). Brush out your cocker spaniel's hair. Make sure you get all of the tangles out. Then let the hair dry.
- 3). Trim hair on the body from the back of the neck to the tip of the tail with a No. 10 blade on the clippers.
- 4). Trim the hair on the legs from the toes to the back of the leg all the way up to the body with a No. 7 blade. Cocker spaniel's have thicker hair in certain places, hence the use of different-size blades.
- 5). Use the scissors to trim the hair on the Cocker spaniel's feet and to feather the hair on the legs.
- 6). Shave the head and ears carefully, shaving in the direction of the hair. Shave about one-third of the way down the outside of the ear in a "V" and about one-third the way down the inside.
