Tinnitus - It"s Not "All in Your Head"

103 19
If you have tinnitus, you may have been told, possibly many times before that it is all in your head and that it's something you just have to learn to live with.
Because most types of tinnitus have sounds that originate inside the ear and no one else can hear, it's easy to say that tinnitus is "all in your hear".
However, it's important to make the distinction that this is not a mental or psychological disorder.
People who hear ringing in the ears are not crazy although it's very common to start to feel that way.
Many tinnitus sufferers have been to doctors who told them there was nothing wrong with them.
Some people even spent years being told there was nothing really wrong with them and that they would need to learn to live with it.
Being made to believe that you are crazy or that you're the only one suffering with a problem like tinnitus can take a big toll on a person's well being.
When this happens, it causes more stress on the person which only makes the tinnitus symptoms even worse.
One of the most important things for a person to learn is that it's not all in your head.
Tinnitus is a real medical condition and while there is currently no cure for it, many people are discovering ways they can treat their own tinnitus and find relief.
Some people even find permanent relief from their tinnitus symptoms and finally feel the freedom of no more ringing in their ears.
There are also other signs of tinnitus aside from just the ringing in the ears.
Often these other signs help people realize that it's not all in your head and that it's a real condition.
Some of these other symptoms might include:
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Sense of fullness in the ears
  • Pain in the ear
All of these problems from tinnitus add up and create more stress for the person who is suffering from the condition.
This stress, in turn, causes a worsening of the symptoms of tinnitus.
The more a person stresses out about the symptoms they are experiencing, the worse these symptoms can become.
This is what causes many tinnitus sufferers to withdraw from friends and family, avoid work and other activities and even develop serious depression.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
The first step to treatment is to realize it's not all in your head.
This is a real condition affecting real people every day and just like many of them have done, you can also find relief from your symptoms of ringing in the ears.
