How to Whitewash Pine

    • 1). Sand the surface of the pine wood. Dampen a clean cloth, and wipe all sawdust from the wood. Allow it to dry.

    • 2). Pour 2 parts white paint into the paint tray. Stir in 1 part glazing medium and 1 part water. Mix well.

    • 3). Dip the paintbrush into the paint mixture. Paint a light coat of glaze onto a section of pine wood. Immediately wipe the glaze off with a clean cloth to obtain the faded look of whitewashing. Continue with the remaining sections of pine wood.

    • 4). Clean the paintbrush and tray with soap and water, and allow the whitewash to dry completely.

    • 5). Pour polyurethane finish into the paint tray, and apply it to the whitewashed surface with the paintbrush. Allow the finish to dry.
