Goji berries and Wolfberries are both grown in China and also known as lycium berries. They are often confused with each other, though size, taste and growing location are three factors that distinguish the two. - Goji berries grow in the wild along hillsides in remote valleys. They are mostly found in Mongolia due to the soil and temperature. Wolfberries grow in the Tibetan or Himalayan mountains and require drastic climate changes for the best growth.
- When dried, Goji berries resemble a bright red coloring and are the size of a raisin. They are also smaller and rounder than Wolfberries, which are orange-red and larger with an oblong shape.
- Goji berries are sweet, and Wolfberries are sour. The Goji berries are not as sweet as a raisin, though their taste has been said to be a mix between cherries, dates and raspberries. Woflberries are said to be sour with a nutty taste.
