Tutorial on Toddler Necktie From a Man's Tie
- 1). Hold the necktie up to your toddler's neck and approximate how far down you want the wide end to go. Approximate where you want the knot to be and gently pinch that area of the tie.
- 2). Place the tie around your own neck with the narrow end hanging over your left shoulder and the wide end hanging over your right shoulder. The wide end should be just as short as you want it to be when worn on your toddler. Thus, the tie will hang around your neck in the opposite way as usually is done: typically the wide end is lower than the narrow end, but here it's the opposite.
- 3). Cross the wide end over the narrow end, making a loop around your own neck. Pull the wide end up and through the loop and then back down. Pull the wide end around the narrow end and to the right; if you're doing this in front of the mirror, the wide end should be in your hand, showing its reverse side to the mirror.
- 4). Pull the wide end across the front, right to left. Pull the wide end up through the loop again. Bring the wide end down through the knot in front. Use both of your hands to tighten it up carefully to the collar. You should have a short tie to the length that you specified with a long narrow end.
- 5). Loosen the tie carefully and remove it from your neck. Place it on the neck of your toddler and gently tighten it with both hands. The tie should be snug but not tight on his neck. Determine where you will trim the narrow end so that it stops an inch above the bottom of the wide tie. Pinch this area and remove the tie carefully from your toddler's neck.
- 6). Trim the narrow end at this pinched spot and fold it over, creating am1/4-inch hem. Insert a single pin to keep it in place and sew it down, making small, tight stitches.
