There are currently three common types of breast surgery available.
One is designed to be used only in medical emergencies such as breast cancer which cannot be contained in any other way.
Another was created to help women who want to have larger breasts.
And yet another was designed with the intent of giving women the ability to shrink the size of their breasts should they desire.
The first type of breast surgery is the not the most popular nor is it the most recommended, but it is used on occasion to save a person's life should breast cancer start to get out of control.
Known as a mastectomy, this type of surgery is usually only preformed on a patient if all of the other breast cancer treatment options are exhausted, and should not generally be considered for any other purpose.
Once the surgery is over, it is possible to replace the breast with follow up breast reconstruction surgery.
Possibly the most popular type of surgery on the breast is breast enlargement surgery.
Each year, more and more women who are dissatisfied with their breast size decide that they have had enough and opt for larger breasts.
This type of surgery involves adding a small (or large) bag of liquid (depending on which procedure you choose) to the inside of the breast in order to make it larger and firmer.
Finally, women who have breasts which are much larger than they are comfortable with have the option of partaking in breast reduction surgery.
This type of breast surgery is basically the antithesis of breast enlargement surgery, as it is designed to remove material from the breasts in order to shrink them.
Breast reduction surgery is done in one of two ways: either by removing added breast implants to reduce the breasts to their normal size or by removing tissue to reduce the size of naturally large breasts.
