How to Replace a Moen Single Lever Bathtub Faucet
- 1). Turn off the water to the bathtub faucet. Newer homes will usually have a shutoff valve located somewhere close to the bathtub, perhaps behind a panel or inside a cabinet. If you don't have one, or you live in an older home, you'll have to shut off the water at the main connection, which is usually outside, towards the street.
- 2). Insert the end of a flat-headed screwdriver underneath the cap on the end of the shower and pry it off. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the handle in place. Remove the handle.
- 3). Pull off the faucet sleeve around the faucet stem. Use a pair of pliers to get a better grip, if needed.
- 4). Pull the faucet retainer clip out of the faucet. This is the small, U-shaped clip that holds the faucet. Use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to pull them out. Then, pull out the faucet assembly.
- 5). Insert the new faucet assembly into the faucet. Insert the retaining clip at the end. Replace the faucet sleeve.
- 6). Insert the handle back onto the stem. Drop the screw into the handle and tighten. Replace the lever cap.
