Goal Setting and Getting Focused: 4 Tips
We are in the last quarter of this year and I'm sure you have set new goals to achieve now and for the upcoming year.
I know I have.
There's nothing like setting a goal and hey, it makes looking forward to the new year fun.
However, a majority of people have already fallen way off the bandwagon and have realized that their drive for success has slowed down a little and the rest of the year seems kind of bleak.
And truthfully, this is normal for most people.
Now don't get me wrong, having a New Year's resolution of some sort is a good way to blast off into the year, but too many people just fall off too quickly.
Some will only last a month, some will even make it to April or May but most people will certainly close up shop before they see any results.
The problem here is that the drive to succeed seems to vanish after they start to feel like they aren't getting any results.
But this is something that success driven people don't take lying down.
They can't even see this happening with their eyes closed.
The good thing is, it's certainly not too late to get back on track, get your mind right, and put your nose to the grind.
If you seriously want to get it done, try this: Get in front of a camera and make a video.
First, you want to write down your goals.
Setting a goal or two is not something you should keep in your mind.
Then get in front of your webcam or video camera.
This is how you will make a promise to others with the fear of letting them down.
Did you catch that? I hope so.
It could be about losing weight, getting organized in your business, or whatever you need to change.
If you let others know about your goal, you will be less likely to quit.
All it takes is making a short video telling people about what your goals are and how you will be achieving them.
The point of this is not to feel obligated to succeed (you should already want to) but to simply not quit.
You will never know what your true potential is if you just quit.
There are many days I have felt like quitting, but then my "why" kicks in and I immediately shift my thoughts to get focused.
Exercise this for your goal setting, because it works.
Tip: Make an additional video telling people why goal setting is important and how it can benefit them.
You can even start a challenge with your viewers.
Post that video and watch it everyday.
It's a good idea to watch this 30 second to one minute video that you made every single day.
You need to keep reminding yourself that you have set a goal that you need to achieve.
Watching it everyday is not a hard "to do".
It's only a minute or less long, so it's no big deal.
This is a great way to remind yourself that you "do" want to succeed and you "will" do whatever it takes to do so.
If you can do these two very simple things, you will be well on your way to having a full year of success.
Keep in mind, you will need to be patient, but if you take these steps before actually making the resolutions, you will have a better chance at succeeding.
Be realistic about your goals.
I honestly don't think dreaming big is a problem.
As a matter of fact, I encourage it.
There is nothing on this earth that you cannot have and you should always be thinking that way.
Any resolution you make or goal that you set can be achieved.
It is all realistic, but you have to apply yourself to make it happen.
Some may think it's better to dream smaller, I think they should get back to "their" business.
Sure some goals will be a challenge from a beginning stand point, but that doesn't mean they are unachievable, by far.
Revise, Revamp, Revolutionize.
Tell people you know.
You want to feel driven to succeed right? Set a goal and tell people who will encourage you.
By all means, stay away from the naysayers because they will only bring you down.
Find people you trust and make yourself accountable for your actions.
These are just a few tips that you can do so that you will have a better chance at following through with your new year resolutions or goals.
This is how you get successful at goal setting and reap all the benefits!
