Blog Terms That New Bloggers Need to Know
Yet these are important terms for people who own the blogs and relate to things that need to be managed in your back office.
While this list is more particular to WordPress most other blog formats use similar terms.
Admin ~ You should be your blog admin.
This is the administrator for the website or blog and has access to make any changes to the blog.
You can change appearance, blog posts, and allowing access to others.
Backup ~ When you make major changes to your website you need to make a backup of your blog.
A backup is like a copy, should anything happen you will be able to import this backup to recover your blog.
Comments ~ When other people visit your blog they are able to leave comments.
Comments are like a conversation after your blog post and related to it.
You can also leave comments on other blogs.
Dashboard ~ While your car dashboard may tell you information, this dashboard allows you to control settings for blog.
You are able to make changes add posts and pages from this back office.
Export ~ Like exporting goods, this is the term when you are exporting information.
This information can be used later on your website, which is the next term.
Import ~ These is a terms used when you upload or add things.
You could import plugins, posts from a previous blog, import themes.
You can import your blog should something happen.
Links ~ Not chains, but links are website addresses with which you want your blog associated.
WordPress blogs come with a list of links that are related to WordPress, other blog formats have their own lists of links.
You can delete these and add your own.
Media ~ This is various media, such as pictures, music, videos etc.
that you have uploaded to your website.
These can be used on blog posts.
Plugins ~ Plugins are mini programs designed to add features to your website.
These can help change the appearance of your blog, make it easier for readers, or make it easier for you to use.
Tools ~ Backup, Import and Export are three tools available in the tools section your dashboard.
Another is Upgrade.
Tools is under Tools as well, it offers a few tools for your blog.
Upgrade ~ This is listed under the tool section of your dashboard however that is not the only place you will see it.
Plugins also need upgrading.
When you see a number beside the Plugin word on your dashboard that many plugins need upgrading.
WordPress will also indicate at the top of the page.
This means updating or making certain you have the current edition.
There are many other terms but these are used commonly in the dashboard.
Administrators need to know these terms to know how to change and set things up on their websites.
