How to Customize TypePad Templates

    • 1). Log in to TypePad to access your Dashboard. Click on the "Design" link located under "Manage My Blog" on the right-hand side. Below your current theme, click on the "Choose Theme" button.

    • 2). Click on the desired theme, then click on "Choose" from the right-hand side. The customization options vary for each theme, and may be limited to header image, colors or background image only. To customize further aspects of your theme, you must have an upgraded account.

    • 3). Click on the section from the Overview navigation on the left that corresponds to the changes you wish to make. The "Colors" page allows you to change colors defined by the theme you have chosen and the "Layouts" page will allow you to choose from many different layout styles. To arrange modules, click on "Content." Check "Apply This Design" and click on "Save Changes" when you are finished customizing the theme.

    • 4). Click the "Advanced Template" option from the "Current Design" sidebar on the left of your Design Overview page if you want to edit the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) of your chosen template. This option is only available for themes you create, or themes under the "Customizable" category of the theme library. The Main Index, Pages and style sheets control the majority of the theme's look and feel.
