My boss is a big bulldog of a businessman and we were having a garage sale.
He was talking business on his blue tooth with a phone and texting someone else a another phone.
A young 6 or 7-year-old Hispanic, absolutely cute girl walked up to him and said, "Sir, do you believe in Santa Claus? He barked in his gruff voice, "Of course I do, I even have a gray beard like him", and laughed! The little girl sort of looked down to the ground and started to turn to find her mother who was looking around.
Something snapped, in that big man's heart! My boss said to the little girl, in a matter of fact voice, I am one of the west coast elves of Santa"s, "Santa just called on my phone here" and said, 'See that big floppy eared bunny, Santa said it was for you!'" The little girl looked at him with her beautiful big brown eyes and said, "really"! My boss said, "Yes"! The little girl ran over and threw her arms around the stuffed animal, which was as big as she was and looked at him with a smile on her face brighter than the morning sun.
She looked at her mother who said," tell him.
'thank you'".
Which she did, they hopped in their car and left.
Wayne's day was changed from that moment because of the raw hope a little girl!!!!!! I believe in Santa as well, and I am asking for a gift for every person in America right now! What is that gift that I am wishing for right now! That is the simple gift of hope and love that I saw expressed in others through those few moments that I witnessed this past weekend.
In the Christmas season this year, remember that it has been a rough few years here in the US and many people and family's who could not have believed that they could not have been without,are! Sometimes the gift of a kind word, a dollar or two, a can of food into the food box, and even a smile and recognition could give the hope that makes the difference between a person with suicidal thoughts and a person that has the hope to get to the next moment, the next day, the next week.
Make a difference in the next person life.
