How to Remove Vinyl Graphics From T-shirts

    • 1). Act fast. If you have just applied a vinyl graphic to your T-shirt and realize that it looks terrible, peel it off immediately. You can usually do this using your fingernails. Be careful since the fabric will be hot, but do not let the transfer sit on the fabric to cool or it will be harder to remove.

    • 2). Transfer the vinyl transfer from your shirt to the wax paper. Place the wax paper on top of the vinyl transfer, then heat the area by ironing over the wax paper. In many cases, the vinyl graphics will stick to the wax paper and you will be able to peel them right off the shirt.

    • 3). Dry the T-shirt on high in your dryer. The high levels of heat will cause the vinyl graphics to peel partially or wholly away. Once the T-shirt has been in the dryer for 15 to 20 minutes, pull it out and peel away the graphics.

    • 4). Treat the vinyl graphics with fingernail polish remover. Pour some fingernail polish on the cotton ball, then dab it on the vinyl graphics. Use the washcloth (damp or dry) to work on getting the vinyl graphics up. The acetone in the polish remover will help loosen and dissolve the adhesive and the graphics, but it can also mess up your clothing, so be careful to rinse out your shirt as soon as the graphics are removed.
