Teens looking to color their locks should consider dyeing their hair with several colors to achieve a bold, attention grabbing look. Using multiple colors is a good way to create contrast, emphasize your cut and make a statement about your personality. These three, bold, multicolored looks are sure to turn some heads. - Standout highlights, whether you have a lot or opt for just a few, will be an automatic attention grabber. The stark contrast between dark and light has been seen on celebrities like Rihanna and can look especially noticeable on short hair. It is best to go to the salon to have your hair bleached for this look--salon dyes are much more concentrated than home bleaching kits. If you have short hair, ask for lots of highlights on the top. Longer-haired teens should ask for thick bands of color near the ends.
- Overgrown highlights are quickly becoming a new trend for those wanting a "rocker-chic" look. Ask your hair colorist to give you highlights but start them about an inch from the scalp. These should be mixed with lowlights of your natural hair color at the scalp. The result is that your hair will be darker on top and slowly transition into brighter ends. This process will take some time so make sure you have at least half-an-hour to spend in the salon chair.
- Dyeing your hair an all-over icy blond can be a real attention grabber in contrast to the more popular, golden-brown colors worn by some women. Depending on how dark your hair is, this process could take several steps to bleach it to a platinum hue. Once you have reached the desired lightness, try adding in a few bright accents of your favorite color. The opposite of yellow is purple, so cooler tones like purple and blue would be good accent choices. These highlights can be placed in the bangs, or underneath a few layers, for a subtle pop of color.
