Do it Yourself Loan Modifications - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Those that are successful save themselves some money which is obviously good.
There are those that go through the loan modification process as a do it yourselfer and it seems to be a major headache for them but in the end, they walk away with better mortgage terms but are left wondering if they left money on the table after the process.
That can happen and does happen all the time.
I see that as bad.
Then there are those folks that, for some unfortunate reason, have fallen behind in their mortgage, make the attempt to get their loan modified on their own and end up with no modification and no home as they lost it in a foreclosure.
That's most certainly the ugly.
To me it is a no brainer.
Hire a professional to aid you in saving the most expensive item you own and don't look back.
You hire a professional to repair your automobile because the professional knows automobiles inside and out.
You most certainly should follow that same philosophy when it comes to the legal ramifications of a mortgage modification.
To do anything but use a pro is a kin to shooting yourself in the foot.
