Mountain Man
I was excited about going until I saw the animal in which I was stepping up onto.
What was I thinking, to put my life in the hands of an animal with four legs and with the ability to buck me a mile into the crisp summer air.
Hesitantly, I slowly mounted the animal gripping tightly to the reigns as if those small leather ropes were to keep me from falling off this tall thick creature.
As we began the steep climb, I kept my feet in the stiff stirrups, still clinging with white knuckles to the reigns and newly founded saddle horn.
The ride to the top was an adventure all should have the experience to do.
However, my journey had just begun..
..
after what seemed to be a lifetime on top..
..
the breath-taking views with shadows that linger into the soft flowing streams of snow run off to the vibrant colors of the rainbow in every direction that my eyes could see.
It was now time to make the decent to the trail head.
I once again mounted Josey this time with confidence of a rider who has ridden over many streams and hills, until the slip of old Josey's feet do I come back to reality.
But my attention no longer is focused on my uncomfortableness, but to the strong confident cowboy on top of an old steed, rightly named "Mountain Man!" Mountain Man He climbs into the saddle, Solid as a rock.
He leads us into the road less forest, Watching and learning from our expressions.
He demonstrates his knowledge, With every smooth touch on the reigns.
He laughs inside just watching The souls pretend to be comfortable.
The trail that we travel on- He no longer takes.
He forges his own path; A path that we only dream of taking.
He is a true leader, One that leads from the heart!
