The Stupidest Angel Book Review
It all starts with the death of Santa Claus and a Christmas wish made by a young boy.
See, Dale Pearson was on his way home from playing Santa Claus when he runs into his ex-wife, Lena Marquez.
They argue, he threatens her with a gun and then ends up dead.
His murder is witnessed by seven-year-old Josh Barker who proceeds to make his Christmas wish for a miracle - bring Santa back to life and save Christmas.
This is where the angel steps in, an angel on a mission to make a child's Christmas wish come true.
Fans of Moore's work will appreciate this twisted Christmas tale (particularly if they've read his other works, as this one contains many previously seen characters from other books such as "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal," and "The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove," as well as others).
If you like dark humor and satire, chances are good that you'll like this novel.
Also, if you're a fan of zombies, this is a must-read novel! I loved the diversity of the characters in the novel, and how they blend together well.
They range from the clinically insane to the rational scientist (who has temporarily gone insane).
These aren't your ordinary, stereotypical characters.
The reader gets a good feel for each one.
When I finished The Stupidest Angel, I wanted to find more of Moore's work.
I haven't read the other novels which also contain characters from this one, so I'll definitely be seeking those out.
I want to read where these characters come from and how they develop into what is presented in this novel.
Christopher Moore has written several dark comedies/satires.
He's known for his sense of humor and his skill at satire and social commentary.
I recommend this book at any time of the year, though it's especially funny during the Christmas season.
I know I'll want to re-read it every December! This is version 2.
0 of The Stupidest Angel, which contains a bonus chapter at the end, describing events which occur one year after the Christmas during the majority of the book.
A stranger happens to visit Pine Cove, and though he has malicious intent for one inhabitant of the town, he has no idea what he's getting into by threatening this colorful cast of characters.
More hilarity and Christmas spirit come through in this bonus chapter!
