How to Personally Design Your Own Leather Wristbands for Men
- 1). Brainstorm your ideas. Ask yourself what characteristics you want in your wristband. Decide if you want it to be dark or light, plain or carved, leather only, or include buckles, studs or grommets. Make some preliminary sketches and see what ideas appeal to you and which don't. Glance through men's fashion magazines, or go to the mall and see if any designs on the shelves catch your eye and make some notes.
- 2). Sketch the leather wristband that you want. Show it from the front and the back, adding as much detail as you can. If you're not artistic, add worded descriptions so that someone trying to interpret your design has a guide. Pay special attention to the fasteners, which can be done with small buckles or snaps, by lacing a leather cord up through gromits or even with a zipper.
- 3). Measure your wrist and the area of your forearm where the wristband should rest, to ensure your wristband is the right circumference. For example, if your wristband begins at your wrist and extends back 4 inches, measure your forearm at that point. Write your measurements down on your blueprint.
- 4). Add color to your blueprint. This is optional, but a completed picture will help the designer, if you don't plan on making the wristband yourself.
- 5). Make your wristband. If you don't have the necessary skill or tools to follow through on your design, look for a tailor or seamstress who works with leather to do it for you.
