Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker Instructions
- 1). Pick up the lid and check that the black plunger of the pressure valve moves freely. If it does not, do not use the cooker until the valve is cleaned or replaced.
- 2). Place the ring gasket in its position around the edges of the lid. Prepare the food ingredients as directed in your recipe and place them in your pressure cooker.
- 3). Position the lid on the cooker, and lock it into place. Kuhn-Rikon and other modern pressure cookers will not pressurize unless the lid is sealed correctly.
- 4). Heat the cooker until the correct pressure is reached. The pressure valve will rise until either one red stripe or two are showing, representing eight and 15 psi respectively. Most foods are cooked with two stripes showing.
- 5). Time your cooking from the moment the correct number of red stripes are showing. If the cooker vents steam from any location other than the pressure valve, remove it briefly from the burner and turn down the heat.
- 6). Remove the cooker from your stove at the end of the prescribed cooking time. Allow it to cool naturally until the pressure releases, then remove the lid carefully and serve your food.
