• Face paint can be a lot of fun, especially at Halloween. It is a good idea to have the right application materials before you start, including sponge applicators, art brushes and cotton swabs. You should also have plenty of tissues on hand for correcting mistakes.
  
  

Jack-o'-Lantern

• Jack-o-'lanterns are supposed to scare away evil spirits, but what's scarier than a jack-o-'lantern chasing you? You will need orange and black face paint. Apply a coat of orange paint to your entire face, then carefully add black triangles to your nose and eyes. Finally, add a sinister smile from ear to ear.
  
  

Spider Web

• When people think of Halloween, creepy, crawly spiders often come to mind. Draw a spider on your cheek with black face paint. Then, with a thin brush or cotton swab you can make the web surrounding the spider to be simple or elaborate.
  
  

Frankenstein

• No fictional character is more famous on Halloween than Frankenstein. You will need face paint in green, black and red. Apply an even coat of green to your entire face. Carefully add red below your eyes and paint your lips black. Add a diagonal stitching scar on your forehead.
  
  

Dia De Los Muertos Skull

• Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that takes place from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. It is intended to honor the dead and celebrate the living. Dolls and items such as candles are commonly seen depicting skeletons dressed in colorful clothing or decorated with colorful designs. Look for these images online or find books from which you can copy. You will need face paint in white and black. If you would like to add embellishments, use bright colors such as blue, red, green, yellow or purple. For an added touch, find a fancy hat or shawl to wear or carry a guitar or violin.
  
  

Tribal Warrior

• With the right brushes and a little imagination, you can be a fierce tribal warrior. Research and study the face tattoos of Maori people of New Zealand for inspiration. Use a brush and black face paint. Paint tattoos on your body, too. Slick your hair back, or if it is long enough, tie it in a ponytail. Carry a toy spear, dagger or sword.
