How To Get Rid Of Money Worries

The writing is on the wall - although we may not be in an out and out recession, things are looking mighty shaky just now on the money front and people are naturally worried.
Fortune Magazine recently undertook a poll of a 1,000 US Citizens and these were the results:
  • 15% have not been able to keep up with their credit card payments, and 9% have not been able to keep up with their mortgage, rent or other loan payments
  • 18% have concerns over the stability of their job are a little worried about losing their job in the next year, and a further 8% are very worried about losing their job
  • 65% believe economic conditions are getting worse
  • 57% believe the United States is heading into a recession
  • 48% have been cutting back their spending
This is a small survey but I think we are all feeling the effects of these sentiments closer to home.
Here are some tips on surviving the current climate and moving ahead more positively.
  • Do Not Panic.
Don't make hasty decisions about your job or your investments - focus on the long term instead - as with all things in life, what goes up comes down again and vice versa.
  • Do not Focus on the Bad Stuff.
Yes the economy may be shaky but focusing purely on this will only make the situation worse.
You need to set your goals and consistently work towards them.
Much of what is in the media is very much hyped anyway and it is always the negative which is reported and never the positive.
But that positive stuff goes on too you know - and continues to do so day after day.
  • Don't be rash.
Where you can make savings, make them.
A lot of the stuff we think we need we don't actually need.
Save where you can, which will ultimately give you a financial cushion, which make you feel more secure and thus a positive cycle will be formed.
