Directions for a Christmas Table Runner
- 1). Measure the length of the table. Table runners can run the entire length of the table, only fit in the middle, or run off the edges of the table. Measure according to personal preferences. Measure the width based on the center of the table. Usually, table runners are around half of the table width or so, though it can be wider or thinner as preferred.
- 2). Cut a background piece of felt to the measured width and length. Cut a basic rectangle shape, and then fold the ends of the rectangle to form points.
- 3). Sew around the edges of the felt at about ¼ inch into the fabric. This prevents fraying. It is not necessary to make a seam.
- 4). Draw Christmas pictures in the other felt colors. For example, draw a snowman shape on a white piece of felt and then draw various parts to the snowman like a carrot nose in orange or a scarf in blue. Use Christmas stencils, cookie cutters or any other preferred item to help shape if preferred. Cut out the shapes.
- 5). Glue the felt Christmas images to the background felt piece. Add decorations like glitter, buttons, sequins or stickers as preferred. For example, paste the shape of a tree on red background felt, and then add buttons and glitter for tree ornaments. Allow the glue to dry and the project is complete.
